Wren Fishing is preparing for 2022, the season opens soon and we are busy preparing our boats and crew for the year.
All of our crew are about to undertake a safety at sea course, which they do at the commencement of each fishing year. Part of their ongoing training includes safe food practices in line with Safefood Queensland.
David is an active member of the Gulf of Carpentaria Inshore Fishery (GOCIF) working group, which met for the first time on the 18th of January. This group is working closely with Queensland Fisheries to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the Gulf Fishery. Their next meeting is scheduled for the end of February.
David is also currently the Chairman of the Gulf of Carpentaria Commercial Fishermen Association (GOCCFA)
Wren Fishing have recently created a position in their business for a Research Officer – this person will assist the skippers in the implementation of new electronic log books, and develop an independent observer program to monitor fish stocks in the N12 fishery.
